Scientists of the Belarusian State University (BSU) have developed a series of herbal mixes for carrying out inhalations at home, BelTA learnt from Natalia Biriukova, head of the medical products sector of the Research Institute of Physical and Chemical Problems of the Belarusian State University. According to her, samples of herbal mixes have been submitted to the Belarusian Health Ministry for registration; in 2009 they will be available for sale. The herbal mixes are composed of chamomile, bur-marigold, licorice, echinacea and other herbs. These nose treatment products have been developed separately for pediatric and adult patients. They are designed for therapeutic and preventive treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, antritis, have an immunomodulatory action. “At present drug stores sell either herbal extracts that have to be taken in complex or herbal tinctures. Herbal solutions like the ones developed by BSU can hardly be found because of their short storage life. Our research was designed to prolong the shelf life of such medical products,” Natalia Biriukova said.
