The Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, and the Science and Technology Ministry of Laos have signed a memorandum of cooperation. A joint lab will be set up as part of the memorandum to study mineral resources of Laos, BelTA has learned.

The joint venture will be founded by Belarusian Research Geological Exploration Institute (BRGEI) of the Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and the Standardization and Metrology Department of the Science and Technology Ministry of Laos.

The lab will focus on carrying out a series of analysis and research projects relevant for studying the material composition of geological materials, minerals, waters, gases, soils, and fossil remains. Apart from that, there are plans to create a database on formations and ores, deposits and manifestations of minerals. Plans have been made to carry out a geological, economic, and cost evaluation and prepare a feasibility study for the possibility of carrying out a follow-up exploration of mineral deposits and their development.

Lab workers will have access to all the deposits of Laos for the sake of getting samples of ores and keeping the government informed about the mineral composition of the ores in the country.

The Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, the State Science and Technology Committee, and the Science and Technology Ministry of Laos will coordinate the operation of the lab.
