On February 25, 2025, a round table discussion entitled "Formation and implementation of the regional scientific and technical program of the Minsk region for 2026–2030" was organized at the Belarusian National Technical University. The event was attended by First Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Bakhanovich, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economy of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Andrei Gubkin, Rector of BNTU Sergei Kharitonchik, Director of the State Institution "BelISA" Vladimir Susha, as well as representatives of the State Committee for Science and Technology, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and higher educational institutions of Minsk. At the round table, those present discussed programs for the implementation of promising project assignments for the formation and implementation of a regional scientific and technical program for the next five years. In addition, representatives of Belarusian science drew attention to the need to integrate scientific research and development with the needs of the local economy. "The head of our state, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, has set a number of tasks for Belarusian science. One of the most important among them is ensuring the practical orientation and effectiveness of scientific research in the field of education. Currently, the leading universities of Belarus are the lead organizations and implementers of scientific and technical programs. The Ministry of Education has identified six such universities," noted Alexander Bakhanovich. The words of the First Deputy Minister were supported by Andrei Gubkin. He emphasized the importance of interaction between scientific institutions and industry to achieve the goals set by the Belarusian scientific sector. As noted by the head of the department of scientific and technical programs of the department of scientific and technical policy and expertise of the State Committee on Science and Technology Pavel Yukhnyuk, scientific research should be not only theoretical, but also practical, aimed at solving specific problems facing the economy of the republic. BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik presented those present with information on promising projects of tasks for the formation and implementation of the regional scientific and technical program of the Minsk region for 2026–2030. In addition, the roundtable participants exchanged opinions on research, development and technological work to be included in the program. According to those present, it must necessarily include projects that affect information technology, environmental innovation, machine-building complexes, etc. The productive dialogue contributed to the formation of a common vision and understanding of priority areas for scientific and technological research over the next five years.
