A national exposition of Belarus will be presented at the Yangon International Trade Exhibition, Myanmar, on 22-25 December, BelTA learnt from the Trade Ministry of Belarus.

This is the first time Belarus will take part in this exhibition. The country will be represented by over 50 companies, including enterprises of the Industry Ministry (BelAZ, MTZ, MAZ, Amkodor, MZOR, Mogilevliftmash), Education Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (nine higher learning institutions and four research centers), Healthcare Ministry (Belmedpreparaty, Borisov Pharmaceutical Plant, Minskintercaps, etc), Belneftekhim Concern (Belshina), and Belgospishcheprom Concern (distilleries and confectionaries).

The Belarusian companies will be provided with 174 square meters of indoor space and 50 square meters of outdoor space. The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belarusian Consulate in Myanmar will arrange an information booth to tell the public about economic, scientific and cultural potential of Belarus.

Belarus’ participation in this exhibition will help expand trade and economic relations between Belarus and Myanmar. “It is among the most promising markets in Southeast Asia,” the Trade Ministry informed. The ministry pointed out to the steady increase in the bilateral trade in recent years.

In 2010 the bilateral trade stood at $2.2 million; in 2011 it was estimated at $27.3 million, with Belarusian exports at $26.5 million (up 12 times compared to 2010) and imports at $0.8 million (up 20 times).
