In order to increase awareness of Latvian and Baltic region companies about Belarus scientific potential in development of export technologies, present modern research and innovation projects, discuss opportunities of bi-lateral and multi-lateral cooperation with the foreign companies and international organizations in the field of new technologies and materials a section of R&D developments has been included in the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in Latvia "BELARUS EXPO-2008", 12-15 November 2008, Riga. The State Committee for Science and Technologies of Belarus has acted as a collective organizer of the section.

At the area of 90 sq. ì  representatives of 10 universities of the Ministry of Education and 6 R&D organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have presented over 170 developments in the form of samples, tablets, information and promotion materials, multi-media presentations, etc. In addition, information on more than 300 developments was accessible from a database of S&T production of Belarusian State University and Interuniversity Centre of Marketing of R&D of the Ministry of Education. During the Exhibition the experts of organizations-participants of the Ministry of Education signed 5 protocols on intentions and had exploratory talks on joint R&D projects and delivery of S&T production.

During the Exhibition a round-table was held titled “Belarusian-Latvian cooperation in S&T and innovation areas”. The following experts presented their organizations and developments: P.Kuchinskiy, Deputy Director of the Institute of Applied Physical Problems, Belarusian State University; T.Kravtsevich, head of Department of post-graduate education, Belarusian State University; V.Usik, acting head of Research Department, Brest University;  S.Belikov, head of Research Department, Vitebsk State Technological Institute; L.Shmugova,  director of the Interuniversity Centre of Marketing of R&D, Technopark “Metolit” of BNTU; Y.Plavskiy, deputy director on science of the Institute of Physics, NAS; V.Savich,  deputy director of the Institute of Powder Metallurgy, NAS. The round table resulted in discussion of joint R&D projects to be submitted to the 2009 call for proposals within the framework of bi-lateral cooperation program.

All organizations-participants of the collective S&T section have been marked with the diplomas of the Exhibition for active participation.
