23.04.2024

In March of this year, within the framework of the International Forum "Atomexpo-2024", a Comprehensive Program of Russian-Belarusian cooperation in the field of nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects was signed. It develops the provisions of the Memorandum between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Republic of Belarus on deepening strategic cooperation in the field of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and related high technologies, signed on the sidelines of a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on January 29, 2024.

The overall goal of the program is to ensure the technological sovereignty of the Union State by creating strong cooperation chains in those areas where the Russian nuclear energy industry complex and Belarusian enterprises have all the necessary competencies. Consistent joint work will take place in such areas as nuclear medicine, ecology, digitalization, energy storage technologies, electric transport, the creation of new materials, and additive technologies.

Deputy Chairman of the SCST Tatyana Stolyarova took part in the press conference. She emphasized that in the last six months a number of strategic documents were signed with Rosatom. These include a roadmap for the development of cooperation between Belarus and the state corporation Rosatom in the field of nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects, a memorandum between the governments of Belarus and the Russian Federation on deepening strategic cooperation in the field of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and related high technologies.

As part of the memorandum, at the end of January this year, the State Committee for Science and Technology, together with interested parties and in cooperation with the state corporation Rosatom, prepared a Comprehensive Program of Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the field of nuclear non-energy and non-nuclear projects until 2030. According to Tatyana Stolyarova, cooperation will develop in such areas as the non-energy application of nuclear technologies, nuclear medicine and the production of medical equipment, digitalization and telecommunication technologies, modernization of industrial enterprises in Belarus, including using robotics, additive technologies, composite materials, etc..

"It was agreed that in order to quickly prepare documents, the parties for each of the project areas of the action plan of the Comprehensive Program will create joint working groups from representatives of interested ministries and departments of Belarus and the state corporation Rosatom," informed the representative of the State Committee for Science and Technology.

She also said that currently, through cooperation with the state corporation Rosatom, joint proposals are being developed for a number of scientific and technical programs, as well as one project of the Union State. One of the programs concerns ensuring safety in the management of radioactive waste, another is the creation of a complex for the production and certification of detection equipment with specified parameters, another is the implementation of unified approaches to the creation of "smart cities" and regions in order to develop integration relations of the Union State. The topic of the Union State project is "Technological platform for radionuclide diagnostics of malignant neoplasms based on an inhibitor of fibroblast activation protein."

"We don’t stop there. There is constant work going on between Belarus and Rosatom to identify new promising points of interaction," summed up Tatyana Stolyarova.
