Day of Belarusian Science

Presidential Decree № 157 of March 26, 1998 established the annual (the last Sunday of January) celebration of the Day of Belarusian Science.

In 2023, the professional holiday of figures of science, workers of research institutes and institutions of higher education falls on January 29.

For any state, the successful development of science is a key element in ensuring national security.

Today, global changes are taking place in the information and technical spheres, knowledge and technology are being rapidly updated. "Whoever loses in this race risks losing everything, including the country. In fact, we have no other choice — we must be among the leaders. It is not only a question of scientific ambitions, but also of preserving our statehood and the Belarusian nation," summed up Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the scientific community of the country on January 25, 2022.

Practice has proved the ability of the Belarusian science to solve breakthrough problems. Belarus has noticeably advanced in nanotechnologies, nuclear and renewable energy, aerospace, artificial intelligence, digitalization and robotization, biotechnologies and pharmaceutics, machine and instrument engineering, precision farming, creation of new drugs and methods in healthcare and many other fields.
