28.07.2025

A Unified Information Day dedicated to the stages of the formation of sovereign Belarus and significant achievements was held in the teams of organizations subordinate to the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus.

The meeting at the Republican Scientific and Technical Library was held by the Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology, Sergei Shlychkov.

He spoke about advanced Belarusian developments, the activities of leading enterprises, as well as the complex "projects of the future" being implemented, which have the potential to become growth points for the national economy. These are "Innovative Healthcare", "Biotechnology for Pharmaceuticals", "Smart Cities for Belarus", "National Electric Transport", "Biotechnology in the Agro-Industrial Complex", "Precision Farming".

"Over eight decades of peaceful existence, Belarus has achieved a lot. All the successes and achievements of our people create the history of the state, unite Belarusians in a sense of pride for their compatriots, and form the image of the country — strong, successful and creative," noted Sergei Shlychkov.

Over the past decades, our country has become a modern European state, confidently following its own path of development.

One of the priorities is the focus on the development of high technologies, which serve as the driver of the country's economy.

The space industry is developing successfully. With the launch of the first Belarusian spacecraft in 2012, Belarus joined the world's space states, and in 2013 it was accepted as a member of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. After the flight of the first Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya, we confidently say: "Space is ours! "

Sovereign Belarus has not only conquered space, but also joined the "Club of Peaceful Atom Countries".

Its own nuclear power plant ensures the country’s energy independence; Belarus has completely abandoned the import of electrical energy.

Belarus is a modern IT country. The High-Tech Park forms up to 4% of GDP and provides 30% of the country's service exports, and is also a leading IT cluster in Central and Eastern Europe.

The driver of scientific and innovative development of Belarus is the Great Stone industrial park, which is focused on the development of production in the most promising and knowledge-intensive industries.

Another unique large-scale technological project is the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, which has no analogues either in Europe or in the post-Soviet space.

In his speech, Sergey Shlychkov emphasized that our country is one of the few countries in the world that fully ensures food security. Among the EAEU member states, the highest level has been achieved — 96%. We are among the world leaders in food exports. Our country is in the top 5 world exporters of dairy products. Belarusian products are presented in more than 100 countries of the world and are in demand among the population.

The BELARUS tractor is known all over the world.

The Republic of Belarus is rightfully considered an automobile country. The appearance of the BelGee brand allowed to establish the production of passenger cars at a high technological level.

The republic provides high-tech medical care based on the most modern achievements of medical science and technology. Innovative treatment methods of Belarusian cardiologists, neurosurgeons, as well as new methods of cancer treatment developed by our scientists using cellular technologies are something we can rightfully be proud of.

In sovereign Belarus, having preserved the principles of a fair way of life, we have jointly increased all the best that was created by our predecessors.

The most recognizable national brands of the Republic of Belarus include: equipment from the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, Gomselmash, Belkommunmash, Amkodor and other mechanical engineering enterprises; equipment from Atlant and Gefest; products from Belaruskali and Integral; clothing from Elema, Svitanka, Mark Formelle, Milavitsa; familiar brands such as Santa Bremor, Matias, Savushkin Product; confectionery from Kommunarka and Spartak; cosmetics from Belita and Vitex; as well as the well-known Polonez multiple launch rocket system and other products of the defense sector of the economy; optical and electronic products from Peleng and much more.

Our country is confidently moving forward in its development. Today we have serious growth points that will determine further development in the coming decades. Achievements in the space, nuclear and biotechnological industries, successes in the IT sphere, microelectronics, medicine and other areas — all this serves as a powerful foundation for the further innovative development of Belarus.
