Republican meeting of the scientific community devoted to the Day of Belarusian Science was held

January 27, 2023, the Republican meeting of the scientific community devoted to the Day of Belarusian Science was held at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maksim Tank.

The solemn event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Government, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, heads of ministries, concerns, rectors of universities, representatives of international organizations, the Belarus Federation of Trade Unions, youth public associations, scientific and educational establishments, the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maksim Tank, and other organizations.

The key aspect which was announced at the Republican meeting of the scientific community is the science as a powerful resource of modernization, driving force of technical progress, as the major component of national wealth.

Scientific achievements have always been a matter of special pride, an indicator of the highest intellectual potential of the nation, an important factor in national security.

Today, the science is to suggest ways, mechanisms and scenarios of our country's transition to a higher technological level. The state policy in the sphere of scientific, technical and innovation activity, carried out in the country, is directed to intensification of development of the scientific branch, and provision of close interaction of science with organizations of real sector of economy and social sphere.

The great attention is paid to support of young talented scientists in our country. Positive results are reached due to the created system of stimulation and involvement of the youth into the science. The work on involving students in scientific research sphere is established in the higher education establishments.

The Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technologies of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Shlychkov welcomed the attendees of the event. He noted that Belarus has preserved and increased scientific and intellectual potential. "Ensuring scientific and technological security of the country is a priority for us. We are facing quite ambitious tasks in this area. It is impossible to solve them without scientific and intellectual potential. We have it in our country; we not only kept it, but increased it," — said the head of the department.

"Belarus is in the top ten countries according to such indexes of global innovation index, as "Training of specialists in science and technology", "Higher education" and "Inventions and utility models". According to indicators "Human Capital and Researches" it is among 40 best countries in the world, "Science and Technologies" — 34th position out of 169 countries, according to Human Development Index — 53rd position out of 189 countries.

A large-scale exhibition "Belarus Intellectual" was held in Minsk on the eve of the Day of Belarusian Science. Besides, there was an exhibition "Youth. Education. Science" exhibition was held on the occasion of the meeting of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University. The presented list of exhibits characterizes the level of developments, technologies in our country, shows our high scientific potential," noted the Chairman of the SCST.
