Residents of technology parks will be given preferences in the satellite city of Brest

12.01.2023

Residents of science and technology parks in Zhabinka will be given preferences, Chairman of the District Executive Committee Andrei Kuzmich told a correspondent of BELTA.

The satellite city of Brest aims to increase investment attractiveness and create comfortable conditions for business. Certain categories of legal entities are granted benefits in terms of non-application of multiplying factors to the rates of land tax and property tax. New enterprises and organizations, as well as companies created by foreign investors can reduce their property tax expenses. This list includes producers of innovative, import-substituting and export-oriented products. Business entities that acquired buildings or constructions, isolated premises from the unused state property can count on such support. Special attention in Zhabinka is paid to producers of innovative products. First of all it concerns scientific and technological parks and their residents, centers of technology transfer.

"There is a need to modernize existing production facilities and create new high-tech ones. Import-substituting production and technologies are especially needed in the conditions of sanctions pressure. Just the residents of the technology park are solving such a problem. That's why we decided to create more favorable conditions for them to do business," Andrey Kuzmich explained.

Thus, a private company engaged in digital technology and robotics in agriculture, having become a resident of Brest Science and Technology Park, retained its business in Zhabinka district. The company was able to buy a complex of capital buildings to create a production of innovative and high-tech products. Also with this company signed a contract for the production of a line for the production of fuel pellets for the peat briquette plant.

"So far we have registered one resident of the Brest Technopark. However, the provided tax incentives will contribute to the creation of enterprises and productions engaged in the production of innovative, high-tech products in the area," the chairman of the district executive committee is convinced.

He cited several examples of successful relocation from Brest to Zhabinka. An enterprise specializing in exports is completing equipping its logistics center in the satellite city. Another private company, which produces windows and doors, relocated to Zhabinka from the Brest free economic zone. Now the company plans to produce wooden frame houses.

By the way, the housing construction also attracts workers to Zhabinka. Last year the district center commissioned two nine-story apartment buildings, in which half of the apartments were reserved for people on waiting lists from Brest. Three more high-rise buildings are planned for construction this year. Brest citizens will get half of the apartments there as well.

"Zhabinka as a satellite town has a high potential for attracting investments and is open for fruitful cooperation. We create conditions for effective interaction with domestic and foreign partners. The taken measures ensure the progressive development of small and medium business, increase its share in the economy of the region, promote the creation of new enterprises and jobs, "— said Andrei Kuzmich.

More than 500 individual entrepreneurs, about 150 micro and small enterprises and 13 medium enterprises have been registered in Zhabinka district. Last year 8 new commercial organizations were created in the region, 5 of them — in the satellite town. Small and medium business provides over 35% of total revenues to the consolidated budget of the Zhabinka district.
