The 24th International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovation and Technology "ITEX 2013" (9-11 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

In accordance with the Plan of national exhibitions (expositions) of the Republic of Belarus abroad for 2013, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 20 December 2012 ¹1177 and the Plan of international activities of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus (SCST) for 2013 , the SCST jointly with BelISA acted as a collective organizer of the science and technology exhibition in the National Exposition of the Republic of Belarus in the 24th International Exhibition of Inventions, Innovation and Technology “ITEX 2013", which took place from 9 to 11 May 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It was for the first time that Belarus participated in such a large and prestigious event in the field of science and technology in South-East Asia, where participants from 15 countries presented their exhibits. The organizer of the exhibition – the Malaysian society of inventors and developers (MINDS) – attracts scientists and inventors with their latest inventions and innovations from various universities, research institutions and individual inventors from Malaysia and Asia , America and Europe to this annual (since 1989) event.

Over 100 developments by organizations of the Ministry of Education, National Academy of Sciences, private research and production companies were presented at the SCST stand with a total area of 66 sq. m. The Belarusian delegation which serviced the collective stand consisted of 17 experts.

The main thematic sections of the SCST collective stand included: electronic systems, nanotechnology, laser physics, metallurgy, surface treatment of machine parts, new materials, new technology using ultrasound, treatment of industrial waste, medicine, light industry, construction, engineering and instrument making, ecology, etc.

A series of working meetings and negotiations with representatives of the scientific and industrial organizations with potential partners in various areas of S&T cooperation and development were held in the course of the exhibition.

The main results of participation in the exhibition:

  1. The members of the delegation of the Ministry of Education
  • signed two memorandums of understanding on cooperation in the field of medicine and usuing the  agricultural production wastes;
  • held working meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology of Malaysia, as well as with representatives of a number of universities and institutions which have confirmed the mutual interest in the developing the bilateral relations in the field of science and education.
  1. The members of the delegation of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus have signed
  • a memorandum of understanding between the NAS and the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia in the field of S&T cooperation;
  • a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the development of unmanned aircraft systems for mapping and conducting search and rescue operations;
  • an agreement on cooperation in the field of solar energy.

It is planned to further cooperate with the Malaysian and Singaporean side in the supply of additives for engine oils and paints based on nanodiamonds and joint ventures for their production.
