National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus "BelarusEXPO-2006" in Latvia

On December 13-16, 2006 the VIth National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus “BelarusEXPO-2006" was held in Riga, Latvia. The purpose of this action is further development of economic, scientific, technical and cultural communications between Belarus, Latvia and other Baltic countries.

Belarusian science was represented at the Exhibition by 150 developments of 19 scientific organizations and universities of the republic. The members of scientific delegation carried out a number of negotiations where the further steps on information exchange have been discussed and business contacts have been established with the following organizations: Society for assistance to Belarus-Latvia economic cooperation, Ministry of agriculture and Ministry of economy of Latvia, Centre of technology transfer of Ventspils Higher School, Confederation of small and medium enterprises of Latvia, Latvian Agricultural Chamber, Riga State University, etc. As a result, 6 protocols on intentions have been signed; more than 10 arrangements on cooperation and joint scientific developments in various areas have been achieved. Within the framework of the Exhibition the State Committee for Science and Technologies of the Republic of Belarus has carried out a round table on the issues of cooperation between Belarusian and Latvian researchers in scientific and innovation spheres.
