International Information Methodical Seminar "Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Belarus and the EU in Information and Communication Technologies" (Minsk, 25-26 June, 2009)


On 25-26 June 2009 the State Committee for Science and Technology together with Belarusian Institute of  System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere, National Information Point of the EU 7 Framework Programme for Research, Technology and Development (FP7), and the other interested organizations will carry out in Minsk a two-days International Information Methodical Seminar “Scientific and technical cooperation between Belarus and the EU in information and communication technologies”.

In the Seminar representatives of the European Commission and international consortium of "SCUBE-ICT" project (“Strategic cooperation between Ukraine, Belarus and EU in Information and Communication Technologies”) supported by the European Commission through the FP7 under “Information and Communication Technologies” Programme,  and also of the Central European Initiative are going to take part.

The purpose of the action is to intensify the international S&T cooperation (INCO) of Belarus in the area of information and communication technologies via

  • involving domestic organizations in FP7 projects;
  • organizing direct contacts between local researchers and the EU experts in ICT;
  • increasing competence of local researchers in preparation and realization of international projects.

The tasks of the action:

  1. Informing participants about the current opportunities of INCO with the EU partners within the FP7;
  2. Informing participants on the topics of the FP7 calls 2010 in information and communication technologies, existing tools and services which can help to develop the INCO with the EU countries, including partner search;
  3. Organizing direct contacts with the experts of the EU in the appropriate thematic areas of cooperation, and also networking;  
  4. Improving personal skills of the participants necessary for successful inclusion in the INCO.

To take part in the Seminar the active and potential participants, as far as organizers of INCO in the field of information and communication technologies are invited. The experts from the European Commission, Greece, Spain, Denmark, Great Britain, etc. are going to participate in the event.

The action consists of three parts: seminar, networking and training.

The seminar and networking will be held on 25 June 2009 in “BELARUS” Hotel, 15, Storozhevskaya str., Minsk, starting from 9.30am. Registration of the participants starts at 9.00am. Participation is free-of-charge. Working languages – Russian and English. Synchronous translation will be organized.

For participation in the training which is to be held on 26 June 2009, it‘s necessary to fill in the separate application. The number of participants of the training is limited — maximum 30 persons.  Fluent English is obligatory, experience of international cooperation in the EU projects and presence of the project idea are welcomed.
