Information methodical seminar "Actual opportunities for development of scientific career and international mobility of researchers" (Minsk, 8 April, 2009)


On 8 April, 2009 the State Committee on Science and Technologies together with Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere and National Information Point of the 7th Framework Programme for Research, Technology and Development of EU (FP7) carries out in Minsk an Information Methodical Seminar "Actual opportunities for development of scientific career and international mobility of researchers".

The purpose of the event is assistance in increasing mobility of national researchers and participation of Belarusian R&D organizations in the international projects on training young researchers and exchange of scientific personnel. Professional level and international mobility of researchers are considered by organizers as the factor necessary for developing national science, in general, and the international cooperation in S&T, in particular. 

The task of the Seminar is to inform participants about

  1. actual possibilities of participation for scientific organizations and inpidual researchers in the international research financed by Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, and also in  international projects dealing with scientific career development and international mobility of researchers which are supported by the European Commission and some foreign countries;
  2. current calls for proposals, rules for participation, requirements to applications, and also peculiarities of inpidual projects;
  3. sources of information necessary for developing a successful application.

Methodical part of the Seminar’s agenda is based on:

  • materials of calls for proposals which are going to be by the European Commission in March-April, 2009 within the "People" Programme of the FP7 and opened for participation of organizations/scientists from Belarus;
  • rules for participation of “third” countries’ scientists in COST;
  • rules for getting grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research by young researchers from Belarus for the purposes of training in Russian scientific organizations, etc.

The focus group of the Seminar is the following:

  1. Administrative staff of scientific organizations, universities and companies responsible for the issues of international S&T cooperation and professional training. For this category of participants, according to organizers, information about opportunities of international cooperation for organizations could be of primary interest.
  2. Young scientists including PhD students and recent candidates of sciences with the general experience of scientific activities less than 10 years, and also experienced researchers having a scientific degree and the experience of scientific activities over 10 years who are interested in inpidual participation in the projects directed on development of scientific career through the international cooperation with the EU partner organizations.
